The foundation of many environmental problems is the inefficient and consumptive pattern of land use and development that has been allowed to stretch across our landscape without proper guidance and proactive planning principles for over the past fifty years.  Leadership, education, creative planning, and re-evaluation of the current land use codes offers the best setting for solving environmental problems ranging from water source pollution, habitat loss, resource depletion, and deforestation.  All of which have been attributed to placeless urban sprawl and uncontrolled growth.
